The World’s First Smart Street }

Bird Street London, a little side street based next to Selfridges on London’s Oxford Street, was an innovative research initiative set by the New West End Company and Transport for London. Aiming to be a digitally enabled retail oasis, Beyond Form was enlisted to create an innovation pod at the destination. Our goal was to look at the future of retail and deploy technologies to aid the research of the ‘world’s first smart street’. The project ran in the summer of 2017.

STRATEGY

We worked closely with the NWEC team to ensure that Bird Street London was executed and deployed according to the vision. Due to the temporary nature and newness of the project it was paramount to ensure that all aspects met the objectives and aligned with all stakeholders.

POP UP ACTIVATION

The team executed the buildout and operations of the pod including the design, fitout and staffing. The project’s ‘retail oasis’ objective meant that solutions were needed to engage customers on this unfamiliar retail experience.

INNOVATION & PARTNERSHIPS

This project was all about showing off the possibilities of the future of retail. We brokered several partnerships to make the project a success including pod design, retail analytics and hardware such as the highly used, engaging and amusing ‘Selfie Mirror’.
